Sixto Diaz Rodriguez (July 10, 1942 – August 8, 2023) was discovered in 1968 in a Detroit bar, playing with his back to the audience. He wrote beautiful and catchy folk songs that were meant to be a voice for the poor and disenfranchised.

Though he faded into obscurity in the U.S., an early ’70s musician known as Rodriguez became a huge hit in South Africa and was widely rumored to have died. Two obsessed fans set out to learn the man’s true fate.
